CCS created the master plan vision and urban framework to successfully integrate McCormick Place into the city context of the premier convention center “district” and an evolving dynamic neighborhood through its last two expansions. With input and support from MPEA and a full range of civic, community and public agencies and organizations, CCS crafted the master plan that established a number of key urban design elements and civic assets including McCormick Square, the extension of the central concourse terminating at the new City Gate, and a new Civic Grand Ballroom located prominently on a key corner with prime views back toward downtown.
