The strategic vision for Lake Meadows recasts this 1950’s residential development as the next great lakefront neighborhood for Chicago’s south side. The master plan restores the urban fabric through a hierarchy of boulevards, parkways and streets lined with a variety of low, mid and high-rise mixed use development. The 80-acre site is further enhanced with a series of parks, gardens, lakefront connections and a new “town center” providing much-needed destination retail and community space/place for the neighborhood and surrounding areas. Through a Planned Development Amendment, CCS translated this bold vision into new, greatly expanded zoning which allowed for a more contextual, connected and higher density lakefront development.
